Institute of Applied Mathematics, METU
Çankaya / Ankara, Türkiye
In occurance of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, the Institute of Applied Mathematics is presenting a lecture series on computational tools.
The Institute of Applied Mathematics abridges the Mathematics with other sciences whose computational tools are highly utilized. For this reason, we aim to introduce most commonly used software with applications in many disciplines as a series of short courses. There are no prerequirements other than registering for the lectures. You are welcome to be a part of these courses and have an introduction to the software. We will be happy to meet you at Institute of Applied Mathematics - Cryptology Laboratory.
The lecture series include these three programming languages:
R language is used for statistical computing and visualisation in general. It is lightweight, free and open-source. Its data analysis and manipulation features are used in applied mathematics.
SageMath is a Python-based language with many algebraic computation features. A variety of its features such as polynomial operations, finite fields and symbolic computations are very useful for cryptography.
Julia is a high performance general purpose programming language aimed at scientific computing. It is designed with ease of use, distributied computing and parallelism in mind.
All lectures will be 3 hours. They will be given at Tuesdays, between 15:30 and 18:30.
